How to optimize the Wordfence Security plugin for WordPress

This article describes how to optimize the Wordfence Security plugin for a WordPress installation by disabling the Live Traffic feature.

OPTIMIZING THE WORDFENCE SECURITY PLUGIN

The Wordfence Security plugin provides many useful features to help secure your WordPress site. However, the Live Traffic tracking feature can cause performance issues, particularly in a shared hosting environment. Therefore, for optimal WordPress performance, you should disable the Live Traffic tracking feature for day-to-day use. (It may still be useful to enable Live Traffic temporarily from time to time for testing or tracking purposes.)

To optimize the Wordfence Security plugin, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your WordPress site as the administrator.
  2. In the left-side pane, click Wordfence, and then click Options. The Wordfence Options page appears.
  3. Under Basic Options, clear the Enable Live Traffic View check box.
  4. Scroll to the end of the page, click Save Changes, and then click Reload page. Wordfence Security is now optimized for your site.
